Ladies Day 2011
It was an occasion when Northern fashion matched the best that Royal Ascot could offer and Lesley Lister and her team from Tyne Tees Models had the almost impossible task of judging not only the Best Dressed Lady and the Most Elegant Hat but also a pre-race "beauty parade" of jockeys.
After several hours of deliberation, the main prize went to Jennie Collingwood from Frosterley, Co. Durham. A close runner-up was Joanne Little from Carlisle.

Jennie, seen above being presented with her prize from Lesley Lister, will have a future race at Hexham named in her honour and will be entertained to a VIP champagne luncheon at the course. |

Winner of the most elegant hat competition was Joanne Routledge from Kenton Bank Foot, Newcastle Upon Tyne who received a gift voucher from Reflections of Corbridge. Joanne will also enjoy luncheon at a future race meeting. |

Commenting on the high standard of fashion, Lesley Lister told the Courant;
"The ladies of the North can be very proud of themselves. Their fashion choice was every bit as good as what Royal Ascot had to offer. In spite of a blustery wind and threat of rain the outfits, hats and hairstyles were simply stunning and would have easily graced the Royal Enclosure. As in previous years it was an almost impossible task to choose winners."

There were twelve "runners" in the Best Looking Jockey's Parade and the winner was Campbell Gillies with Tom Messenger coming a close second.
